First Mortgage
First Mortgage
A first mortgage is mortgage that has priority over all other mortgages filed against the same property. This first mortgage is senior to all others and is the mortgage that was recorded first, regardless of when it was given. Mortgages recorded after the first mortgage are known as subordinate or junior mortgages or by their rank in filing (a second or third mortgage, for example).
